Winemaker
A working estate in Rioja, Spain β Tempranillo farmed on calcareous clay, ferrous clay, and alluvial terraces, continental with atlantic and mediterranean influence. In the Crew model the winemaker stays anonymous until you enroll; until then the platform stands behind the data, the track record, and the samples. You meet them, and see the name, when you commit.
My family didn't set out to make fine wine; they set out to use the land they had. Rioja at 400β600 m, calcareous clay, ferrous clay, and alluvial terraces, and a cellar dug into the hill.
βLate budburst this year β continental with atlantic and mediterranean influence kept the vines asleep an extra week. I don't mind. Fruit that comes in slow tends to come in right.β
β the winemaker, updated this month
My rule is simple: don't make a decision the vineyard already made for me. Calcareous clay, ferrous clay, and alluvial terraces sets the acid and the tannin; I keep the cellar clean and the timing honest.

Finished pruning the home block today. My hands are reminding me how many cuts that is. The oldest vines on calcareous clay, ferrous clay, and alluvial terraces get pruned last, by me, every year.

Reservoir check came back lower than I'd like. We'll dry-farm the old vines and water only the young ones. Less wine, but the right wine.

One year of your life, inside one vineyard's year. You'll follow the winemaker from bud break to bottle.
