Walked every row this week. Bud break is even across the blocks — the Sauvignon Blanc on gravelly ironstone loam over granite and gneiss always wakes first. No frost in the forecast, which is the news I wanted.

The history.
The old terraces were going back to scrub when we took them on. We rebuilt the walls, replanted the gaps, and left the survivors; the oldest vines here have outlasted three owners.
