Walked every row this week. Bud break is even across the blocks β the Pinot Noir on kimmeridgian marl, caillottes limestone and silex flint always wakes first. No frost in the forecast, which is the news I wanted.

About this Crew

Revealed on enrollment
Winemaker
A working estate in Sancerre, France β Pinot Noir farmed on kimmeridgian marl, caillottes limestone and silex flint, continental with cool nights and a long autumn. In the Crew model the winemaker stays anonymous until you enroll; until then the platform stands behind the data, the track record, and the samples. You meet them, and see the name, when you commit.
These vines sit on kimmeridgian marl, caillottes limestone and silex flint at 200β350 m. The estate has farmed Sancerre, Loire for generations; we kept the old blocks and rebuilt the cellar around gravity.
βWe had a scare with a late cold snap but the buds held. Now it's down to the summer β I want a long, slow ripening, not a sprint to sugar.β
β the winemaker, updated this month
My rule is simple: don't make a decision the vineyard already made for me. Kimmeridgian marl, caillottes limestone and silex flint sets the acid and the tannin; I keep the cellar clean and the timing honest.

Cover crop turned in between the rows. The bees are already on the mustard. Sancerre, Loire smells like spring.

Spent the morning re-tying canes the wind pulled loose. Unglamorous, but it's the difference between a tidy canopy and a mess in July.

One year of your life, inside one vineyard's year. You'll follow the winemaker from bud break to bottle.
