About this Crew

Revealed on enrollment
Winemaker
Made on a small Central Otago estate β Riesling on schist and loess over free-draining gravels. Anonymous by design: the trade name is revealed on commitment, after the samples and the data have done the talking.
These vines sit on schist and loess over free-draining gravels at 200β450 m. The estate has farmed Bannockburn, Central Otago for generations; we kept the old blocks and rebuilt the cellar around gravity.
βNo big gaps between the early and late rows. Flowering went past without drama. The vines look after themselves on schist and loess over free-draining gravels.β
β the winemaker, updated this month
My rule is simple: don't make a decision the vineyard already made for me. Schist and loess over free-draining gravels sets the acid and the tannin; I keep the cellar clean and the timing honest.

No joke: the first shoots are up. We walked the property and flagged the gaps to replant β schist and loess over free-draining gravels here doesn't forgive a lazy season.

Crew chat went live this week. Already a debate about pick date versus hang time β exactly the argument I want you in on.
